The services of the Galgóczi Erzsébet City Library

The Internet cultural magazine of the Galgóczi Erzsébet City Library  is the only website in Hungary that has this sort of content and purpose. It was completed in 2003 in order to give news on the cultural life of the city of Gyõr, and the results and events of education and sciences, and to sustain a permanent basis for the popularization of the programmes of the institution, and to assist the cultural and scientific liaison inside and outside the region.   

Its fundamental mission is to take care of the intellectual heritage and to investigate it on an ongoing basis, to present the life and work of people connected to the city of Gyõr, to introduce the civil movements, and to portray exhibitions, books, films, and artistic and cultural events. It actively participates in the presentation of exhibitions representing crucial artistic values and in the introduction of local artists, it frequently reviews cultural writings linked to the city of Gyõr and other cultural events taking place abroad, it makes efforts to popularize the values of the Hungarian culture in cooperation with the municipal government, educational, cultural, and social institutions in order to strengthen the work liaison with the intellectuals.   

It calls general attention to important local volumes, it reports on anniversaries, applications and tenders, purchasing and reading habits of the readers, festivals, conferences, jubilee programmes, and it gives news on the forms of public edification in weekly updates in concern to culture as understood in its widest sense.
