Books and documents for free use
Registered readers can borrow the books for free use and unbound periodicals designated for this purpose free of any special charge. The term of book lending in case of books for free use is three weeks that can be prolonged two times. Eight books can be lent at a time. Any document of the Local Knowledge Pool can be borrowed for one week that cannot be prolonged. Maximum four of the colour weekly newspapers and unbound periodicals of the preceding years can be lent for maximum three weeks that cannot be prolonged. Separate newspapers and periodicals are not allowed to be lent; the entire volume must be borrowed. Because of their popularity, only two of the (Hungarian) Burda, (English) National Geographic, Stern, Hola, and Vogue can be borrowed for one week.
Manuals and periodicals
Maximum four of the manuals and the bound periodicals of the preceding years at a time can be borrowed for the weekend and for Tuesdays that are library holidays. The manuals and bound periodicals can be picked up at 3.30 pm on Saturdays and must be returned until 9.00 am on Mondays. The same documents can be lent on Mondays from 6.30 pm and on Wednesdays until 9.00 am.
CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks
All registered readers under 14 can borrow the documents of the Media Archives (CDs, DVDs, and audio books) free of any special charge. Only one DVD and one CD (music or audiobook) can be lent for maximum one week at the Central Library and must be returned to the same venue on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Registration at the library is required for lending! As regards the documents of the Media Archives, only the lending term of the audio books can be prolonged once for one week. DVDs are also available at the Belváros Branch Library. These can be borrowed on any days when the library is open. The term of their lending is three days.
The lending term can be prolonged personally, by telephone, or by entering the library’s Internet website. The lending term can be prolonged with three days via the Internet prior to the date of expiry at earliest. In case of any lending in delay, the library will charge a penalty!
