Community life has been very important to the residents of Gyárváros from the beginning. The civil society, the clerical communities, and sports clubs represented a suitable platform for their conventions. A bowling alley operated at Külsõ-Árpád u. 6-8. first, and the so-called "Dózsa Society" afterwards. The building section of the house built in 1918 functioned as a school for a while after World War II, but it served mainly as the local headquarters of the communist party. The branch library was furnished here in 1961. The rooms of the house were rented by a local entrepreneur, but his rental agreement was terminated in 2003. The facility was overtaken by the Galgóczi Erzsébet City Library in 2004. It was partly renovated then and fully reconstructed in 2006.

The Gyárváros Community Centre started its operation under the education organiser’s supervision in 2004.
