National Széchenyi Library (OSZK) points
The Galgóczi Erzsébet City Library has been hosting a National Széchenyi Library (OSZK) point since 2009. What exactly does it mean? The Digital Library of the National Széchenyi Library (OSZKDK) is a virtual library, in which the readers can search and browse as they can do so in a physically existing library with only one difference: the reading material searched for can be read immediately after one click.
The objective of OSZKDK is to provide convenience by breaking through the boundaries of traditional libraries quickly, accurately, and in a personalized manner at the same time for many thousands of readers, which only a digital library can provide.
The prevailing copyrights allow the National Széchenyi Library (OSZK) to publicize only a particular part of its digital collection through a dedicated network. This stock can be accessed exclusively from libraries rendering public services, institutions for the purpose of school education, museums, national archives, and image and sound archives, which function as OSZK points.
Our library functions as one of these official OSZK points, thence access is granted to documents maintained through the dedicated network. The special workstation installed at the Adult Readers’ Service is hence such a public PC terminal, where the digital collection of the National Széchenyi Library is not only searchable, but its reading materials are also viewable in full conformity with the prevailing copyrights.
Different icons on the search list of the Search function of OSZKDK present the clusters of documents available in the digital library, which can be the following:
|
All readers can read freely the documents available on the Internet without restrictions. |
|
Documents that can be read on the dedicated network can exclusively be accessed through the workstations set up at the official OSZK points, thus at our library. |
|
The essence of EOD or eBooks On Demand service is that the readers can order the digitalized copy of any book that was published in print earlier, but is not subject to copyrights currently, and which copy the personnel of the National Széchenyi Library can dispatch to the ordering readers within a few days. |
Any printing or copying or downloading from the digital library of the National Széchenyi Library is strictly prohibited!
